Italiano Tries to Rally His Troops for Clash with Milan

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano sat down with the press to discuss the Milan tilt. He addressed the defensive absences: “We can not do anything about the suspensions. The injury to Matija Nastasic was a bad break as it could have been a good opportunity for him. We will have a new back-line tomorrow. Igor, Lorenzo Venuti, Sofyan Amrabat and Filippo Frison will be our options there.”

“We will face a team that never lost so far. They are good in every area. We must improve when we go down in the score as we have come back from such situation.”

Italiano spoke about Nicolas Gonzalez, who is returning from COVID: “He can not play a full game yet because he practiced just three times after a long time on the shelf. He was limited in training too. We have to be very careful. He will be available, and then we will see what happens. He has unique skills. We hope he will be able to log some minutes.”

The coach heaped praise on the Rossoneri: “They can give fits to anybody when they have room. We must insist on our principles. We had a good game against Juventus and could have hurt them more.”

Italian defeated Milan while helming Spezia: “It was an extraordinary game, and I have re-watched it multiple times. I think this squad could have the same determination. There is a lot of discussion around tactics, but having the right attitude goes a long way. We were combative and brazen that day. I hope we will have the same kind of approach. My goal is to create a lot and allow fewer chances. The footballers are the main characters. We have done well in the back, but we can be more clinical up front.”
