Fabio Cannavaro Reveals Serie A Talent He Wouldn’t Have ‘Enjoyed’ Marking

Former Serie A hero Fabio Cannavaro might have faced some of the best forwards and wingers in the world during his heyday, but there is one young striker currently in the ranks of Juventus he says he would not enjoy marking. Moreover, he believes the Bianconeri have been strengthened with the presence of their winter signings that gives them an edge in the Scudetto race.

The 2006 World Cup winner spoke to Corriere dello Sport during an event and also shed light on Juventus’ involvement in the championship race hat has so far been talked about as a ‘three-way’ race rather than including the Turin giants.

“The championship is still open because there are so many points up for grabs and anything can happen. Juventus are not out of the race for the title because they never give up and put pressure on their opponents. After the January transfer market, Juventus is even stronger,” he said. He then pointed out the ‘pillars’ of Bianconeri’s future in two players – one from attack and another from defence – and going so far so to claiming that he wouldn’t have enjoyed playing against one of them.

He said: “With De Ligt and Vlahovic, there are two good pillars for the future, two players that I really like. Dusan makes the department alone and in the area he is devastating. I wouldn’t have enjoyed marking him, but it would have been interesting.”

Juventus sit in fourth position with 62 points, six points off league leaders Milan. Inter and Napoli are sandwiched in second and third place respectively tied at 66 points, although the Nerazzurri do possess a game in hand.
