Italy Coach Mancini: “Difficult Times Brings the Best Out of Us”

Having recently lifted the EURO 2020 championship title last year, Italy are full of confidence heading into this year’s winter World Cup in Qatar. Azzurri coach Roberto Mancini has echoed the confidence he possesses in his dynamic side filled with young world-class talents.

Italy still need to qualify for the tournament, though. In next month’s play-offs, they first have to overcome North Macedonia, before going on to face the winner of the match between Turkey and Portugal to qualify for the big stage. In what will definitely not be an easy asking, Mancini still holds his outfit in high regard.

Speaking in an event at Expo 2020 Dubai, the EURO winning tactician reflected on his side’s chances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“We want to go to the World Cup in Qatar because it is very important, because we have the chance to experience an extraordinary dream and the chance to win it too.” (via Ansa.it)

He then proceeded to mention that it is in tough moments such as the play-offs that the strength of the Italians truly shows.

“There are moments that are more difficult in life and in work, but I think that the strength of those of us Italians, comes out in these moments,” he said.

As the second-most successful team in the history of football’s greatest competition, Italy will undoubtedly count their chances of matching Brazil’s five-time World Cup winning record. However, they have two extremely important matches to focus on next month in a bid to enter the tournament.
