Italy U21 coach Paolo Nicolato is aware of the uncertainty that surrounds potential progression for not only them, but also France and Switzerland as the final group matchday beckons. The Azzurrini emerged victors with a vital 3-2 win over the Swiss the previous game, and are now in control of their own destiny, as they prepare to take on Norway U21 in the final group game.
Speaking to the press in his pre-match conference (via VoceGiallorossa) ahead of the clash against the Scandinavians, Nicolato revealed the difficulty that lies awaiting them.
“This is a very difficult group. There is great quality and balance. We will play our cards tomorrow; we knew it would be so balanced because they are top-level teams.”
Norway are on the brink of elimination, as not even a win guarantees progression. They are certain to head home after the final whistle in Cluj-Napoca. Italy U21, on the other hand, have made it to at least the quarter-finals in four of their last six Euro U21 appearances, making their progression likely, but not certain.
