Italy U21 international Mattia Viti is close to joining Sassuolo, with his former coach Alessio Dionisi eager to reunite with him ahead of next season. Sassuolo were interested to sign Viti last season, but he instead secured a permanent move from Empoli to OGC Nice on a €13M deal, but struggled to garner regular game time under Lucien Favre and Didier Digard.
However, he is on the verge of reviving his career back home in Italy with Sassuolo. Latest reports from Sky Italia (via SassuoloNews) indicate that the Neroverdi could strike a loan deal with the southern French outfit. It is understood that Viti is currently not in the plans of new Aiglons manager Francesco Farioli, making his move back to Italy highly probable.

Viti has agreed to personal terms and conditions with the Neroverdi, and negotiations are in the final stages.
Dionisi coached Viti during his time at Empoli three seasons ago, when the Gli Azzurri were still in Serie B. Sassuolo will have to deflect the interest of Serie A rivals Fiorentina, but the Emilia-Romagna outfit are in pole position to seal the 21-year-old’s signature
