January Departure Unlikely for Osimhen Despite Standoff

Napoli and Victor Osimhen have moved on from the recent controversy concerning two TikTok videos mocking the striker, but the matter currently on hand is trickier. The parties are nowhere close to agreeing to a new contract, Gianluca Di Marzio reports (via SOSFanta).

“The recent events were a bump in the road. They were serious, but they got solved. The focus is on the renewal now, which seemed close but never materialized. His current contract expires in 2025. However, the team will already start losing leverage in the winter ahead of the summer without an extension.”

“Either Napoli and Osimhen re-up, or it’ll be a hot topic come next June. I don’t believe he could leave in January. The Azzurri aren’t used to that. His sale won’t fetch €200M. It’s hard to imagine somebody will even offer €150M. I think he’s on Chelsea’s list, but I don’t see it as a winter deal.”

The marksman recently broke his silence but hasn’t commented on the extension nor committed to the Scudetto holders.

Our Take on Osimhen and Napoli

While it’s a positive that they have been able to toss aside the silly stuff, the talks to prolong his contract are a menacing dark cloud looming over their season. If his agent wants to facilitate his exit, it’d be in his best interest not to strike a deal, if not by including an affordable release clause.
