Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, who was loaned out to Premier League outfit Leeds United, has earned praise from coach Jesse Marsch. The West Yorkshire club signed the USMNT international as a marquee player, especially in light of their ongoing relegation battles.
The American coach spoke to Daily Mail (via TuttoJuve) in an exclusive interview and shared his satisfaction on McKennie’s loan signing.
“When we thought about him, I learned well by talking to people who know him, with players who have played with him or with coaches who have coached him. What I’ve heard about Weston is that he’s ‘a great guy, a great teammate, a reliable player.”
Marsch further revealed what he learnt from directly interacting with the player.
“When I spoke to him, I found that he was hungry, had a desire to improve and a belief that he had done well in his career, but that he still has a lot to achieve and learn. Signing Weston was a no-brainer, I felt that he was the perfect guy for us. It’s a transfer we should be proud of as Leeds because bringing in a player like him, from Juventus, is a tribute to us as a club.”
McKennie joined Leeds on loan from Juventus following the club’s 15-point deduction.
