Joaquin Correa Has His Heart Set on Joining Inter

Sought-after Lazio forward Joaquin Correa has reportedly prioritized a move to Inter Milan over foreign interest. Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla wrote on Twitter that the Argentine seeks a reunion with former manager Simone Inzaghi, who took over managerial reins from Antonio Conte earlier in the summer.

Inzaghi played a pivotal role in Correa’s rise to prominence in Serie A, having navigated his development for three years at Lazio before leaving the capital a few months ago. The Italian tactician is also believed to be keen to land his former protégé to fill the gap left by Romelu Lukaku’s departure for Chelsea.

Despite signing Edin Dzeko from Roma earlier in August, Inter are on the lookout for another attacking reinforcement, aware the Bosnian’s age might require careful game-time management. Correa has emerged as a potential solution, given his strong relationship with Inzaghi.

However, the Nerazzurri are not the only suitors, with several Premier League sides, including Everton and Tottenham Hotspur keeping close tabs on Correa. Yet, Inter’s hopes of overcoming foreign competition have received a boost as the 27-year-old reportedly wants to link up with the reigning Italian champions.

Correa’s representatives have already held discussions with the Giuseppe Meazza outfit over a potential transfer. Per some reports, talks went well, which has renewed the player’s hopes of completing a switch away from the capital.

The parties are planning another set of negotiations now that Lazio bigwig Claudio Lotito decided to lower Correa’s price tag. Lotito would reportedly sanction the Argentine’s departure for €30m plus add-ons, having asked for around €40m beforehand.

In the meantime, the Biancocelesti are still working on signing Serbia international Filip Kostic from Eintracht Frankfurt. Negotiations with the German side are well underway, but they have yet to find an agreement.
