Jose Mourinho Congrats Inter and Reiterates Love for Nerazzurri

Inter strolled to another comprehensive 3-1 home victory over in-form Roma to regain control at the Serie A summit ahead of Milan’s trip to Lazio on Sunday. After a 3-0 demolition of the Rossoneri in midweek Coppa Italia action, Simone Inzaghi’s men put on another top-class showing to dispatch Jose Mourinho’s high-flyers.

Denzel Dumfries opened the scoring right on the half-hour mark following a quick-silver run behind the Roma backline to set the tone for another enjoyable evening. Marcelo Brozovic doubled the lead late in the first half to hand Inter a comfortable 2-0 half-time cushion.

Lautaro Martinez put the game beyond doubt only seven minutes into the second half. Roma responded through Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 85th minute, but it barely eased the pain amongst the travelling camp.

Having taken their winning Serie A streak to four matches, Inter are now back at the top of the table. At least briefly, though, as Milan could dethrone them by beating Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico tomorrow night.

However, Inter have peaked at the best possible moment as the Scudetto race heats up going into the season finale. Inzaghi’s men thoroughly outclassed Roma, who headed into Saturday’s fixture on a run of 12 league matches without losing.

Roma’s bid to leapfrog Juventus to fourth took a massive hit, but Mourinho concedes ‘Inter are stronger’ at the moment.

They have the strongest players in the league. There are so many ‘animals.’ They are really strong,” he said in the post-game interview, as relayed by TUTTOmercatoWEB

Mourinho reiterated his love for Inter, admitting he is cheering for them in the Scudetto run-in.

I love Inter and they love me. I can say that I would like the Nerazzurri to win the championship.
