Jose Mourinho and his new Roma side have gotten off to a mixed start in Serie A and having just endured one of their worst results in history – a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa Conference League – reinforcements are the need of the hour in the capital.
The Portuguese coach is reportedly interested in out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos. According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, the former Inter manager is ready to put Ceballos on the top of his wish list, thus meeting Los Blancos’ asking price of €20m.
His ankle got injured during Spain’s Olympics campaign this summer as the Spaniards made do with a silver medal. He is expected to be back on playing terms by the end of November but it doesn’t look likely for him to be included in Carlo Ancelotti’s season plans, making him a perfect addition to the target in January.
The 25-year-old Spain international’s contract with the Spanish giants expires in June 2023.
Ceballos spent the last two seasons on loan at Arsenal due to lack of playing time under Zinedine Zidane in the Spanish capital, and now move to the Italian capital might be realistic.
