Jose Mourinho on Track for Personal Record in Europe

AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho is just one continental win away from having the most wins in UEFA club competitions ever. The Portuguese tactician is currently tied with Sir Alex Ferguson on 106 victories.

As the Giallorossi prepare to take on LaLiga side Real Betis, they will likely be aware of such a statistic. Mourinho is already the only coach to have won all three major European club competitions currently in existence. The 59-year-old won the Champions League with Porto and Inter, the UEFA Cup/Europa League with Porto and Manchester United, and the Europa Conference League last season with current club Roma.

Mourinho moved on to 106 wins in their last Europa League game. Then, Roma got the better of Finnish champions HJK Helsinki.

Interestingly, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti could go level with Mourinho on Wednesday. Ancelotti’s Madrid faces Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. Other current coaches at the top regarding number of European wins are Pep Guardiola of Manchester City with 95 and Unai Emery of Villarreal on 94. Both men will also have matches this week in Europe.
