Joshua Zirkzee’s Agent Touches Down in Milan to Negotiate Transfer

These are potentially crucial days for the future of highly sought-after Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee amid restless attempts for Milan to bring him to San Siro. According to Calciomercato, the Dutchman’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, is in the city, likely to negotiate his client’s transfer to the Rossoneri.

Zirkzee has already agreed on personal terms with Milan. The 19-time Serie A champions have offered the 23-year-old a lucrative five-year contract worth €4 million net per season. On top of that, Paulo Fonseca’s men are willing to trigger the forward’s €40m release clause to take him away from Renato Dall’Ara.

It’s a near-certainty that Zirkzee will not ply his trade at Bologna next season. But his future might not necessarily be in Milan. Despite the Italians’ profound desire to sign the Netherlands international, Joorabchian’s request for €15m as a compensation fee has poured cold water on the Rossoneri.

Despite that setback, Milan are reluctant to pull the brakes on this operation. There’s a feeling the parties will meet again in the coming days to overcome this hurdle, given Zirkzee wants to join the Serie A runners-up. But Milan can’t afford to lose more time now that Manchester United are in the picture.

Erik ten Hag has identified Zirkzee as a potentially valuable addition to his depleted Red Devils roster. There’s no doubt Milan can’t compete with the Old Trafford outfit financially. Therefore, they’d be well-advised to get this done in the coming days or start scouring the market for alternatives.
