Julian Alvarez Agent Set to Arrive in Italy – Juventus Lead the Race

Sought-after River Plate star Julian Alvarez could be on his way to moving to Serie A this winter, with several top Italian clubs landing their eyes on him. According to Calciomercato, the player’s representative, Fernando Hidalgo, is due to arrive in Italy in the next few days to discuss his client’s switch to the Apennines.

Alvarez has emerged as one of the brightest South American talents following an impressive season at River Plate. The 21-year-old forward helped Los Millonarios win Primera Division in 2021 as he finished as the competition’s top scorer with 18 goals. He was also part of the Argentina squad to have savoured long-awaited Copa America glory last summer.

His remarkable development at the Monumental Stadium has drawn plenty of enquiries across Europe. However, Alvarez’s future could be lying in Serie A, where Milan, Inter, Juventus and Fiorentina have all set their sights on acquiring his services. Per reports, his agent will soon arrive in Italy to discuss the striker’s potential landing in Serie A.

It remains uncertain whether any side has the upper hand in negotiations, but it seems Juventus would benefit from Alvarez’s signing more than the other three suitors. Massimiliano Allegri’s men have netted a mere 28 goals after 20 Serie A fixtures this season, their lowest scoring tally at this stage of the season in over 20 years.

After losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United late in the summer, the Allianz Stadium outfit have tried to make it up for his departure by signing two talented young forwards in Caio Jorge and Moise Kean. However, both players have failed to deliver the goods in front of goal, forcing Juventus to dive back into the market this January.

But watch out for Inter, who have always had a keen eye for Argentinean talents. Nearly four years ago, the Nerazzurri grabbed Lautaro Martinez from Racing Club, while they also boast the likes of Joaquin Correa in their ranks. Throughout the years, some of Argentinean finest talents plied their trade at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

As for Fiorentina, with Dusan Vlahovic bracing himself for a high-profile move, either now or in the summer, they are in need of a new goalscorer. La Viola are scouring the market for potential replacements, and Alvarez has emerged as a viable solution.

Meanwhile, Milan are a dark horse in this race. But with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud in the autumn of their careers, Stefano Pioli could use some fresh blood in the attacking department.
