As Juventus prepare for time in the courtroom to hear their appeal against the 15-point deduction, the club management is simultaneously are seeking a new sporting director. Napoli’s Cristiano Giuntoli has been reported as the top target, but Partenopei chief Aurelio De Laurentiis seemingly has long-term plans for his executive.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb), the Firenze-born director will remain in Naples for the next season as well, as he wishes to honor his contract, which expires in the summer of 2024. Ostensibly, De Laurentiis will offer Giuntoli a contract extension come summer, hoping to maintain the team’s standing as an Italian powerhouse.

Juventus have already tested the waters with Giuntoli, but the Napoli executive has hardly budged, despite Bianconeri chief John Elkann’s personal efforts. It seems likely that the Turin-based giants will come to a decision in May, perhaps after current director Federico Cherubini receives a say regarding his future in the court hearings.
Giuntoli has played a key part in bringing onboard Napoli the likes of Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, and Giacomo Raspadori, among others.
