Juventus haven’t lost track of Atalanta talisman Teun Koopmeiners despite heavily reinforcing their midfield this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, once the Bianconeri sort out Matias Soule’s switch to Roma, they’ll table their first bid for the Netherlands international.
Juventus won’t settle for two top-class midfield additions in Douglas Luiz and Khephren Thuram. Part of the reason must be Adrien Rabiot’s anticlimactic departure. The Frenchman refused to extend his contract at the Allianz Stadium, which expired at the end of June, forcing Cristiano Giuntoli to return to the market for a new playmaker.
With Arthur Melo set to go and Soule likely to follow, Juventus should raise enough funds to meet Atalanta’s lofty demands. The latter’s move to Roma could go through by the end of the week, meaning Thiago Motta’s team may renew their pursuit of Koopmeiners as early as next week.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have pinned a substantial €60 million price tag on the Dutchman’s shoulders. Since they’ve been stubbornly sticking to their guns, Juventus may need to break the bank to lure the former AZ Alkmaar starlet away from the Gewiss Stadium.
Koopmeiners would unquestionably be a season-defining signing for Juventus. He’s been one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Serie A since swapping his native Netherlands for Atalanta in 2021. The 26-year-old’s goalscoring capacity and playmaking skills have been off the charts.
In addition to Koopmeiners, Juventus will soon re-enter talks with OGC Nice for Jean-Clair Todibo. The Frenchman remains the club’s top defensive target, though they must sell Dean Huijsen before making a new approach for the ex-Barcelona flop.
