Juventus Add More Options to Shortlist of Fullbacks

Juventus have been linked to a few fullbacks, as they will probably have a hole to fill on the left wing. But they might have to bring in somebody on the right one too. Similarly to Alex Sandro, Juan Cuadrado is on an expiring contract. In addition, Danilo seems more comfortable as a center-back.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the coaching staff is mulling moving the veteran Brazilian to the middle in a somewhat permanent fashion. Massimiliano Allegri has picked him over backups Federico Gatti and Daniele Rugani in the most recent matches where Leonardo Bonucci was either rested or unavailable, fielding Matteo De Sciglio on the flank. The ex-Milan man will be out for a month with a thigh strain.

Juventus have added Ruben Semedo to the list of fullbacks they are keeping an eye on. He has a €25M valuation, and he’s part of the Jorge Mendes stable. They have frequently bargained with the powerful agent. On top of Remy Bensebaini and Alex Grimaldo, Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro and Empoli’s Fabiano Parisi are also on their radar.

It’s far from a certainty that the two staples will extend their deals. The Bianconeri tried to reach a multi-year agreement, at a reduced salary, with the Colombian international last season, but it didn’t happen. Sandro recently hinted that his renewal is up to the management.

Our Take on the Juventus Fullbacks

If the Bianconeri are coherent with what they did in the recent past, they will move on from both veterans due to their age and salaries. An investment on the right flank is more likely. There are some quality Bosman options for the left one. Plus, they have youngsters out on loan there.
