Juventus have laid their eyes on Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele amid the Frenchman’s contractual uncertainty in Spain. As reported by JuveFC.com, the Bianconeri are looking to exploit the winger’s undefined status in Catalonia to bring him to Turin in the upcoming transfer window.
Despite boasting Cristiano Ronaldo in the attacking third, Juventus have been sluggish in front of goal from time to time this season. Given Paulo Dybala’s proneness to injuries and Alvaro Morata’s patchy form, Andrea Pirlo has often had to rely on Dejan Kulusevski to share the scoring burden with the Portuguese superstar.
Desperate to overhaul the squad that has faltered on all fronts this season, Pirlo has already started to piece together his recruitment plan for the summer. Reinforcing the attacking department is high of the Italian’s list of priorities as the Bianconeri look to add another household name to their star-studded team.
Resurgent Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele has caught Pirlo’s eye following an inspirational season at Camp Nou. The Frenchman arrived from Barcelona in a blockbuster €145million deal in the summer of 2017 but dealt massive problems settling in the new surroundings.
Often criticized for his lackadaisical attitude and a lack of commitment, Dembele was on the verge of becoming one of the worst signings in Barcelona history. Ronald Koeman even considered offloading the winger on a season-long loan last summer to help him get his career back on track.
Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain were interested in offering the 23-year-old an escape route from La Liga before being deterred by his whopping wage demands. Dembele eventually stayed put and has since thrived under the new manager.
After overcoming a series of physical setbacks, the France international has started to show flashes of his brilliance this season. A truly encouraging campagain for Dembele includes an array of blistering moments, including his late winner against Valladolid a fortnight ago.
With his confidence and form growing every passing week, Dembele has come under the spotlight again. United and PSG have rekindled their interest in his services, with Liverpool and Juventus now joining the race.
Although Barcelona’s stance on their forward’s future remains uncertain, there is no doubt they will look to recoup most of what they paid to sign him four years ago if they opt for selling.
