Inter are in pole position to sign Tiago Djaló in June, but the January window could upset their apple cart, as Juventus and Atletico Madrid might open talks with Lille to onboard him for a small fee. The French side could settle as they have realized they won’t be able to retain him, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.
The Bianconeri would like to add another option for cheap to have more depth. Daniele Rugani and Alex Sandro are on expiring contracts. The Colchoneros are also looking for a reinforcement in the area.
Lille could ask for €4/5M for Djaló during the winter, and Inter are less willing to pay than Juventus and Atletico Madrid as they believe to be firmly in the lead to acquire him gratis. They don’t have a budget and would have to sell somebody to foot a purchase. Offloading their outcasts is unlikely to fetch much.
The youngster wants to join a top team and, given the strong alternatives, he might not dig his heels in to wait for the Nerazzurri. He’s technically healthy following an ACL tear, but Lille are being overly cautious.
Our Take on Djaló, Inter, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid
Given the insistent rumors, it wouldn’t be a great look if La Beneamata let him slip through their fingers, but they also have to pinch the pennies. They could still be in on him if the price tag were small enough for them to still consider him a major bargain.
