Juventus Begin Poking Around Napoli Star Zielinski

Piotr Zielinski hasn’t extended his contract with Napoli after declining large offers from Saudi Arabia last summer, and Juventus have started thinking about going after him for a potential Bosman addiction considering the June 30 expiration date.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the parties haven’t started negotiating, but new reports from Poland suggest the Bianconeri are keeping an eye on the situation. The midfielder isn’t close to re-upping with the Partenopei either at this stage. He could technically sign a pre-contract with another team from January on.

Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli, who brought Zielinski to Napoli in the first place, will make an attempt if the midfielder doesn’t put pen to paper with his side soon. The Bianconeri will welcome back Nicolò Fagioli in seven months, while Paul Pogba’s future is a lot more uncertain.

The Old Lady also has a short-term need considering the suspensions. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Lazar Samardzic are the most concrete targets for now. However, Tottenham value the former €30M and are skeptical about loaning him out.

Our Take on Juventus and Zielinski

What happened between the Pole and Napoli, and really any of their renewals, is quite bizarre and almost looks like a ploy by the owner to keep the players quiet while the market was open. A host of teams would pursue him if he indeed became available on a free. He’d be a perfect replacement for Pogba.
