Juventus bounced back from a frustrating 2-2 home draw against Parma in midweek Serie A action with last evening’s 2-0 triumph at Udinese. Thiago Motta addressed the media after maintaining his unbeaten league start in charge of the record-time Italian champions.
Maduka Okoye’s unfortunate own goal helped Juventus break the deadlock early on before Nicolo Savona pounced on the rebound to squeeze the ball into the back of the net midway through the first half. Despite having several decent chances on either end, the scoreline remained the same.
Juventus temporarily narrowed the gap on table-topping Napoli to four points, drawing level with second-placed Inter at 21. During his post-game talk, Motta lauded his team’s approach at the Bluenergy Stadium.
“A team victory because we approached the game in the best way. We could have done more in the first half since they were allowing us to build from the back. We lacked a bit of depth, especially on the wings,” the Juventus manager said, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio.
There’s no doubt Juventus will not pull the brakes on their spending spree in January after heavily reinforcing their squad in the summer. In addition to replacing the injured Gleison Bremer, they must find a reliable backup option for Dusan Vlahovic.
According to Motta, Juventus will add to their squad when the transfer window reopens for business.
“When the time comes, we’ll do what’s best for the team. For now, we need to celebrate this victory and then recover for the Lille match in the Champions League,” the Juventus coach admitted.
