Juventus Boss Makes Direct Contact with Napoli Ace

New Juventus head coach Thiago Motta is determined to put his stamp on the squad he has inherited from Massimiliano Allegri. According to Sportitalia transfer expert Michelle Criscitiello, the former Bologna manager called Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo to join him in Turin.
The pair reportedly spoke on the phone on Wednesday night as Motta tried to convince the Italy international to come to the Allianz Stadium. Di Lorenzo has already informed Napoli of his desire to depart Naples following an underwhelming 2023/24 season.
Despite Antonio Conte’s best efforts to persuade the offensive-minded right-back to change his mind, the 30-year-old remains keen on leaving the club. Juventus want to offer him an escape route as they bid to reinforce the right flank.
Juventus captain Danilo is in the autumn of his playing career, while Mattia De Sciglio spent most of last season on the sidelines with a knee injury. Motta has identified Di Lorenzo as a perfect candidate to strengthen the right-back position.
Though the outcome of the pair’s talk remains a mystery, Di Lorenzo’s will to part with Napoli seems genuine. However, Juventus would have to deal with Aurelio De Laurentiis to bring the Italian star, and that might be among the most daunting tasks in Serie A.
It’s been a while since Juventus and Napoli last did business. The most recent high-profile agreement between the sides dates back to 2016 when Gonzalo Higuain swapped the Diego Maradona Stadium for Turin in a blockbuster deal.
