Juventus Boss Thiago Motta Reiterates Stance on Federico Chiesa

Juventus remain hellbent on offloading Federico Chiesa after the Italian winger fell out of favor with new manager Thiago Motta. In his latest interview ahead of Juve’s 2024/25 Serie A opening-day clash against newly-promoted Como, the former Bologna coach reiterated the club’s stance on the 26-year-old.

Our position on Federico Chiesa hasn’t changed. He’s not part of our plans,Motta said, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. We’ve talked. It’s a demonstration of the respect I have for everyone. Transparency, clarity, that’s the way I communicate with my players.

Motta made his decision on Chiesa abundantly clear immediately upon touching down in Turin. But Juventus have struggled to ramp up interest in their star forward. Roma and several foreign clubs had been in the mix earlier in the summer.

However, while the foreigners backed off, Roma have left the race after signing Matias Soule from Juventus. San Siro now appears to be Chiesa’s likeliest landing spot. Milan and Inter appreciate the winger’s qualities and hope to sign the former Fiorentina man on favorable terms.

Juventus must sell Chiesa in the coming weeks to avoid losing him on a free transfer in less than 12 months. The player’s contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out in 2025, forcing the Bianconeri to get him off their books this summer to avoid a capital net loss.

Per reports, Juventus cannot let Chiesa leave for less than €15 million. Given the player’s quality and reputation, that’s a bargain fee.
