Juventus Bust Attracts Interest from Several Bundesliga Clubs

Weston McKennie has fallen out of favor at Juventus and could be in line for a return to the Bundesliga amid the emerging interest from Germany. According to Sky Sports Deutschland transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, several teams in the German top flight are keen to bring the United States international back to his stomping ground this summer.

Juventus are determined to cut ties with the 25-year-old midfielder. McKennie’s contract runs out in the summer of 2025, and the Turin heavyweights have no intention of losing him on a free transfer in less than 12 months. However, their relentless effort to send the USMNT star away has yet to bear fruit.

After their futile attempt to include McKennie in a swap deal with Aston Villa for Douglas Luiz, Juventus hoped to sell their misfit to Major League Soccer, with FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami emerging as potential suitors. But that ship has sailed, leaving the former Schalke man’s future in limbo going into the transfer window finale.

McKennie made a name for himself in Gelsenkirchen before joining Juventus for €25 million in 2020. The move hasn’t panned out as expected, and the Bianconeri are now eager to halt their association with the Texas-born midfielder. Germany could provide McKennie with a soft landing, but the list of options doesn’t end there.

Turkish giants Galatasaray are also interested in the Juventus bust. Given McKennie’s fond memories of his experience in Germany, it stands to reason the player would likely prefer a Bundesliga reunion over a switch to Turkey.
