Juventus Captain Danilo Delighted with Revenge-Poised Win at Empoli

Danilo scored a rare goal for Juventus to break the deadlock in a comprehensive 2-0 victory at Empoli on Sunday evening. Massimiliano Allegri’s side returned to the winning path after a gut-wrenching 1-1 home draw against Bologna last weekend, pouring more misery on Paolo Zanetti’s underachievers in the process.

Last April, Juventus suffered an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at the Stadio Carlo Castellani. While much of the credit for that dismal result goes to the club’s legal nightmare at the time, Bianconeri reminded Empoli and the rest of Serie A of who they are with a dominant performance in Tuscany.

It took Juventus 24 minutes of relentless pressure to open the scoring, with Danilo crowning the visitors’ mighty entry with an all-important opening goal. Federico Chiesa sealed the deal in the 82nd minute, securing a second win in three Serie A matches for Allegri’s side this season.

Danilo, who wasn’t available when Juventus slumped to a humiliating loss in April, talked to the press after tonight’s victory. As expected, the Bianconeri captain confirmed they had revenge on their minds.

I can’t say that we didn’t have the thought about last year. Even if I wasn’t here but at home on the sofa. Indeed, it was even more difficult,” the Juventus captain told DAZN, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb.

That was a bad defeat. Today, we showed hunger and pride but also good football and organization, things that can help us achieve important goals.
