Juventus Chief Praises Motta, Explain the Club’s MO

Juventus CEO Mauro Scanavino gave a rare and wide-ranging interview, disclosing the intention of the new course of the team. He conversed with TuttoSport

“There was immediately the right chemistry with Thiago Motta. We share everything with him. The retreat in Germany was important. He’s very dedicated, determined, detail-oriented, and ambitious. He has a strong personality and a direct and honest style of communication. The roles are very clear, but he’s curious and available to discuss and understand the needs, the strategies, and the objectives that go beyond a coach’s job. He cares a lot about the players’ attitude, effort level, and versatility. He wants them to collaborate with each other.”

Scanavino explained how Juventus operate on the transfer market.

“Considering the mix of talents, established players, and stars we aim to create, it’s key to us to pinpoint the right profiles in terms of costs and potential. Once the scouts do that, Cristiano Giuntoli can start negotiating, and we talk daily. He’s very good in shaping the deals based on the club’s necessities. It’d be easier for him if he didn’t have constrains, but he adapted perfectly. Everything is transparent after what happened in the past. We have mechanism to certify the valuations of players, like we did in the Douglas Luiz swap.”

Juventus have embraced financial sustainability, but Scanavino doesn’t rule out future coups.

“I don’t exclude that we could sign a top player like Cristiano Ronaldo in the future. Sure, we want to be able to create them too. The new approach doesn’t affect our competitiveness. We still have important resources. It could happen within the investments for the first team.”
