Juventus Suddenly Close to Acquiring Milan Defender

Juventus are searching for a defender after missing out on Jean-Clair Todibo and Riccardo Calafiori and have taken an interest in Pierre Kalulu. He wouldn’t play regularly at Milan following Strahinja Pavlovic’s arrival.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Frenchman isn’t for sale but the Rossoneri will consider a bid for a permanent departure. The player has opened to the Old Lady’s chase.

Juventus have proposed to bring in Kalulu on an initial loan with an option to buy. They’d pay €3.5M right away and eventually €14M in a year, plus €3M add-ons and a 10 percent resale clause.

Per Calciomercato, the young defender likes the destination. At Milan, he faces competition from Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, and Malick Thiaw, besides the newcomer. His agent has been the main proponent of the deal. It could come together with an obligation to purchase.

The 24-year-old has been at San Siro since 2020 after joining from Olympique Lyon for a meager fee. He has appeared 112 times. However, he has featured just in 11 games last season due to multiple injuries. He’s under contract until 2027 and makes €2M annually.

Our Take on Juventus and Kalulu

It looks like the Bianconeri had plans A and B but not really a C one and are scrambling for a center-back now. A lefty would better round out their corps. He’s coming off a poor campaign, but he had shown major flashes of talent in the past. Giving Thiago Motta versatile players is never a bad idea. Still, if his present team settled for those numbers, it’d mean that they have really lost confidence in him and his ability to bounce back.

  1. Milan are so hesitant to sign Juve players but when it’s the other way around, they act sneakily and fast and it’s frustrating.
