Juventus Closing In on Massive Double Swoop

Juventus are on the cusp of completing two significant signings, with Nicolas Gonzalez and Francisco Conceicao set to join the club. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, both players could pen their contracts by the end of the weekend.

Gonzalez arrived in Turin on Saturday night. Juventus will pay Fiorentina €8 million to land the Argentine winger on a season-long loan, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season set at €25m plus up to €5m in add-ons.

La Viola have already signed Albert Gudmundsson from Genoa to cover for the 26-year-old exit. After three sterling years in Tuscany, Gonzalez arrives at Juventus as one of the most highly-rated forwards in Serie A. He’ll undergo his medical tests later today.

On the other hand, Juventus and Porto found a breakthrough in long-running negotiations for Conceicao last night. The diminutive winger will link up with Thiago Motta’s side on loan. The Bianconeri will fork out a substantial €7m loan fee plus €2m in performance-related bonuses.

However, Juventus failed to include a buyout option in the deal. That’s a bit unsurprising. Given Conceicao’s young age and immense potential, there’s a feeling that Cristiano Giuntoli dropped the ball here. But the Turin giants will undoubtedly push for a permanent move if he impresses.

With Gonzalez and Conceicao on their way in, Juventus look set to challenge for the Scudetto after four disappointing years. Motta’s men take on Hellas Verona on Monday following a 3-0 demolition of Como in round one.
