Juventus Closing in On Shock Midfield Signing

It’s no secret that Juventus are in the market for a new creative midfielder to address the shortage of numbers in the engine room. However, no one could’ve imagined the Serie A title hopefuls would turn to Saudi Arabia to solve the crisis.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have made significant progress in talks with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq over Jordan Henderson’s immediate return to Europe. The veteran midfielder is desperate to cut short his brief spell in the Middle East, with Massimiliano Allegri’s side offering an escape route.

Despite Henderson’s substantial wages, Juventus are confident of getting a deal over the line. The idea is to sign the England international on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy. Given the player’s overwhelming desire to leave the desert, talks proceed in good faith, though Al-Ettifaq’s stance remains uncertain.

Steven Gerrard could soon be relieved of his duties as manager, with Al-Ettifaq enduring a complicated season despite heavy summer investments. His potential exit would facilitate the 33-year-old’s move to Juventus, considering he insisted on Henderson’s arrival in the first place. But whether he’s what Bianconeri need is another question.

Atalanta’s Ederson has recently emerged as a potential target for Juventus. Since La Dea are in no hurry to sell their prized asset, Allegri’s men have turned to cost-effective alternatives such as Henderson. Yet, at 33, he’s well past his prime, casting doubt on the quality of the Italians’ judgment.
