Juventus Come Up with Brand New Plan to Keep Morata

The Juventus directors are traveling to Madrid for further talks with Atleti to retain Morata, among other matters. The Bianconeri have declined their €35M option to buy following a two-year loan spell. And the Colchoneros have rejected a €15M offer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, their front office will propose a swap deal with Moise Kean. The Old Lady is set to buy him out from Everton for €28M, either this year, if they found a buyer, or in 2023, as per the previous agreement with the Toffees. The 22-year-old has not had a great season, scoring 6 goals in 42 appearances but making just 14 starts.

The two clubs have held preliminary talks about the trade, but Diego Simeone has yet to sign off on it. Juventus could exploit some favorable circumstances and bring back Morata for a lower fee, Calciomercato reports. Arsenal are eyeing him, but they prefer Gabriel Jesus or Gianluca Scamacca. Plus, the Spaniard is not keen on going back to London, especially without Champions League football. Moreover, Barcelona, which seriously pursued him in January, are concentrating on Robert Lewandowski. The Rojiblancos need to get €25/27M to avoid registering a loss in their balance sheets.

Our Take on Juventus Making Another Attempt for Morata

Keeping the 29-year-old makes a lot more sense than onboarding some of the other names linked to the Bianconeri for the backup striker job. He can easily feature next to Dusan Vlahovic, as he has done multiple times since January with good returns. In addition, he is already integrated into the team and its schemes. Juventus could use some continuity as they are likely to endure a substantial overhaul, and Morata would assure that. On the other hand, Kean does exactly seem like an Atletico Madrid type of player.
