Juventus Confident for Paredes but List Alternative

Juventus continue negotiating to sign Leandro Paredes, and they have identified Douglas Luiz as a fallback. The deal for the former seemed on its homestretch before the weekend, but it slowed down again afterward.

As per Sky, the Bianconeri and PSG are discussing an initial loan spell. However, they diverge on the option or obligation to buy. The French outfit would like to tie the future clause to easy conditions. The total package should amount to €17/20M. The midfielder was an unused sub over the weekend and saluted the fans afterward.

Juventus believe they will be able to broker a deal for Paredes early in the week, but they have also reached out to intermediaries to inquire about Douglas Luiz. His contract with Aston Villa runs out in 2023. He might leave at a reduced price tag down the stretch. Roma and Milan pursued him early in the window, but they were unable to sway the Premier League side.

The Bianconeri are also trying to cut down the midfield since they plan add to it. Offloading Arthur remains a challenge, but more sides have touched base for him. Nicolò Rovella’s move to Monza is just waiting for Massimiliano Allegri’s green light. The same goes for Nicolò Fagioli, who is being on Cremonese and Sampdoria’s radar. Instead, the Old Lady has taken Denis Zakaria off the market.

Our Take on Juventus Tracking Paredes and Douglas Luiz

It doesn’t make much sense for the two to be alternatives since they are very different players. While the Brazilian’s physicality could help with a different scheme, they need a maestro to pull off 4-3-3. It wouldn’t hurt to keep one of the two youngsters either, on top of Fabio Miretti.
