As anticipated, Juventus have announced that Adrien Rabiot won’t stay at the club. The midfielder has been technically a free agent since June 30th, but the parties remained in touch. They could not strike a deal, as director Cristiano Giuntoli stated during Thiago Motta’s introductory presser (via SOSFanta).
“I’d like to thank him and wish him a happy professional future and more.”
The Frenchman departs after five years in Turin and over 200 appearances.
Giuntoli also officialized the arrival of Juan Cabal, who’s in town for the medicals.
“We have sold four players and signed three, Douglas Luiz, Michele Di Gregorio, and Khephren Thuram, and the fourth one is coming, Cabal. I’ve read the rumors about our plans and other exits. I’d like to clarify that every footballer currently here is part of Juventus. We’ll make our considerations at the end of the transfer market window.”
Giuntoli stated that the Bianconeri aren’t done adding to their squad.
“We aim to build a competitive roster while keeping an eye on our finances. We wish to shore it up with one man per each role, giving the coach the best that we can do.”
Our Take on Juventus, Rabiot, and Cabal
Considering the salaries of their newcomers, it’s surprising that it took them this long to give up and let it go. After all, he had only one and a half truly good season with them during his run. They needed a fullback and opted to sign a lefty rather than a right-back, so Andrea Cambiaso will star primarily on that wing. A center-back, a no.10, and a forward are next, but they might do more depending on the departures.
