Juventus Consider Blockbuster Swap Deal with PSG

Paris Saint-Germain star striker Mauro Icardi has again emerged as a potential target for Juventus amid Cristiano Ronaldo’s uncertain future in Turin. As reported by Calciomercato, the Bianconeri are eyeing up a move for the ex-Inter stalwart and are ready to include the Portuguese superstar as a counterpart in a deal.

Ronaldo is understood to be unhappy with Juventus’ inability to mount a serious challenge on the Champions League crown and is ready to wave goodbye to the Allianz Stadium this summer. The fact that Massimiliano Allegri is not a big fan of the former Real Madrid talisman only enhances the prospect of the breakdown between the parties.

Having entered the autumn of his career, Ronaldo might not have many more opportunities to taste European glory. As such, the 36-year-old seems enthusiastic about the idea of linking up with PSG’s star-studded team this summer. Alongside the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner would bolster his hopes of winning the Champions League one last time.

Juventus are ready to allow Ronaldo to move to Paris as they look to get rid of the player’s staggering wages. Though it remains uncertain whether the Ligue 1 juggernauts are willing to welcome the Euro 2020 top-scorer to the Parc des Princes, the Bianconeri are exploring the idea of a swap deal that would see Icardi move in the opposite direction.

After securing the services of Achraf Hakimi, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Gianluigi Donnarumma, PSG will have to sort the outgoings. One of the candidates to leave the French capital is Icardi, who blew hot and cold last season. The Argentine forward struggled for regular first-team action in 2020/21 as Moise Kean soaked up the limelight as PSG’s first-choice striker.

Icardi spent seven eye-catching seasons in Serie A with Sampdoria and Inter before moving to France in 2019. Therefore, the 28-year-old could favor a return to Italy to invoke the memories of his glory days.
