Juventus Consider Shock Swoop for Milan Utility Man

Milan misfit Alexis Saelemakers and Thiago Motta could reunite at the Allianz Stadium as Juventus monitor the Belgian’s situation at San Siro. Giovanni Albanese of Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Turin heavyweights might consider a move for the versatile forward if they fail to sign other targets.

Saelemaekers fared well for Bologna last term. He clocked up four goals and three assists in 30 Serie A appearances, helping the club secure Champions League qualification against the odds. But with Motta leaving Renato Dall’Ara to take charge of Juventus, the Rossoblu decided against triggering a buyout clause in his loan deal with Milan.

Back in Lombardia, the 24-year-old is already searching for a new house. Deemed surplus to requirements, Saelemaekers is ready to pack his bags and leave again. Juventus could offer him an escape route from San Siro, considering Motta keeps him in high regard. Milan will unlikely stand in their way.

Milan forked out just under €5 million to price Saelemaekers out of Anderlecht in the summer of 2020. Since his time in Italy hasn’t significantly increased his value, Juventus wouldn’t have to worry about the winger’s price tag. Still, they won’t rush to get this deal over the line.

Finding a deal with Bologna for Riccardo Calafiori remains a priority for Juventus. Then, if a chance presents itself, they’ll pounce on it. But as they’re willing to wait until the end of the summer to land Saelemaekers, other interested Serie A clubs could pip them to his signature.
