Juventus Contemplating Renewal Talks with Elite Striker

Dusan Vlahovic seemed to be on the verge of exiting Juventus in the summer transfer window. Not only did he stay in Turin, but the record-time Serie A champions are now assessing the prospect of extending his contract, as per Gazzetta dello Sport via ilBianconero.

Vlahovic put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year contract after swapping Fiorentina for Juventus in January 2022 in a deal worth around €70 million plus €10m in performance-related bonuses. Given he switched allegiances as one of the hottest prospects in European football, Bianconeri handed him lucrative terms.

The 23-year-old’s contract features a yearly rise, with his earnings going from €7m net per season to €10m. In the final year of his stay at the Allianz Stadium, Vlahovic is supposed to take home a whopping €12m, a figure deemed excessive by the club chiefs.

It’s not about Vlahovic’s topsy-turvy form at Juventus but the club’s poor financial state. Faced with economic turmoil, the Italians must cut expenses to avoid falling into further disarray. Accordingly, they plan to hold renewal talks with several other high earners, including Adrien Rabiot.

The Frenchman has grown immensely significant to Massimiliano Allegri’s setup in the past two years. Juventus held onto his services by the skin of their teeth earlier in the summer, tying him down to a new one-year contract in June. But they hope to extend his deal for at least two more years, although on different terms.

Both players are currently away on international duty. Therefore, any potential negotiations would have to wait.
