Juventus Could Still Offload Out-of-Favor Duo

Arthur Melo and Filip Kostic have fallen out of Thiago Motta’s project at Juventus, but the club couldn’t sell them this summer. However, according to Calciomercato, the out-of-favor duo could leave Turin in the coming weeks.
With the transfer window still open in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, there’s still a chance for Juventus to offload their unwanted properties. The market in Arabia closes on October 6, while Turkish clubs have until September 13 to put their affairs in order.
That means Juventus still have a fortnight to find new homes for their fringe stars. Arthur and Kostic are at the top of the list. But their situations are not remotely alike. Motta has informed both that their skills are no longer in demand at the Allianz Stadium.
Yet, while Arthur is aware he won’t feature for Juventus again, Kostic reportedly believes he could make the former Bologna head coach change his mind. Considering Motta’s resolute decision-making, that’s more of a far-fetched dream.
Instead, Juventus are keen to cut them both loose. Arthur hoped to join Napoli earlier in the summer. That hypothesis quickly faded after the Partenopei added Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay to Antonio Conte’s squad.
As for Kostic, he refused several exciting proposals, including a chance to link up with Fiorentina. His priority is to stay at Juventus and fight for a place in the starting XI. It contrasts the club’s hopes of getting his €3.2 million a year salary off their books.
