Juventus Deputy Milik Undergoes Second Knee Surgery

Juventus will have to make do without Arkadiusz Milik for a while longer. The striker went under the knife again on Wednesday to address the meniscus tear he suffered back in June with Poland. This time, he had arthroscopic suturing of some residue, the club announced.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the marksman had been making progress. He seemed poised to rejoin the group in training during the upcoming break before the joint swelled up again and more tests suggested another operation.

Milik is expected to spend the next two months on the mend since he and the medical staff opted for a repair and not removal. It requires a longer rehab but tends to avoid issues down the line.

Juventus didn’t sign a new striker last summer as they believed he’d be ready for the start of the season, which would have been within the standard timetable for this kind of injury.

Dusan Vlahovic has started every game so far and avoided physical issues. He has subbed off early twice. Thiago Motta adapted Nicolas Gonzalez and Timothy Weah to the position on those occasions with so-so results.

Our Take on Milik and Juventus

It’s a highly damaging situation as it’s a weak spot in their squad. They’ll have to cross their fingers that nothing serious happen to Vlahovic. Their coach is creative, but you can’t make stuff up and mold players on the fly, especially if they don’t have the physique to do certain things. Still, they have a few men they could test as a false-nine if need be, but everybody else would have to step up scoring-wise to make it work somewhat adequately.
