Adrien Rabiot has only recently penned a new contract at Juventus, putting a series of speculation over his future to bed. Despite being targeted by a host of European clubs, the Frenchman has eventually stayed in Turin, signing on the dotted line to extend his Allianz Stadium career for a further year.
Rabiot’s previous contract was only days away from running out before Juventus persuaded the 28-year-old that it was in his best interest to remain in Serie A. According to Corriere dello Sport via Tuttomercatoweb, the record-time Italian champions want to go one better now and convince their star midfielder to renew his deal for at least two more years.
Since Rabiot has grown increasingly valuable to Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus are keen to avoid another stressful situation. They almost lost the former Paris Saint-Germain player a few months ago, with Manchester United emerging as the likeliest candidate to halt the playmaker’s association with Bianconeri.
While negotiations between the parties never gained momentum, Juventus are reluctant to put themselves in a similar position next summer. Allegri has showcased his trust in Rabiot in the opening stages of the 2023/24 campaign, handing him all 270 minutes of top-flight action this season.
The France international repaid that confidence with a goal against Udinese and another solid performance in a 2-0 win at Empoli on the eve of September’s international break. Since leaving PSG for Juventus in 2019 as a free agent, he has tallied 18 goals and 12 assists in 180 appearances for the club.
