Juventus Earmark Gent and Monza Wingbacks for the Summer

Juventus might tweak their wings in the next window and have started shortlisting options, with Gent’s Archie Brown and Monza’s Samuele Birindelli touted as the early ones. The former has also been proposed to Milan by some intermediaries, Tuttomercatoweb’s Mirko Di Natale reports.

The 21-year-old English talent moved to Belgium last summer from Lausanne-Sport for €4M. He was raised in Derby County’s academy and transferred to Switzerland on a free move in 2021. He has dished 2 assists in 32 appearances this season.

While Brown is left-footed and can also feature as a center-back, Birindelli plays on the right wing, where Juventus signed Timothy Weah last summer. The USMNT staple hasn’t panned out. Everton asked for him on loan in January, but he turned them down, The Guardian reported.

The Monza wingback is the son of former Old Lady’s stalwart Alessandro Birindelli. He has dished 4 helpers in 57 matches with the Brianzoli, where he has had an inconsistent role.

Our Take on Juventus, Brown, and Birindelli

They’ll hopefully be a little less schizophrenic and more patient in the transfer under Cristiano Giuntoli. They shouldn’t move on from Weah despite his lackluster campaign. They can pick and choose which flank to bolster thanks to Andrea Cambiaso’s versatility. The Monza player is energetic but nothing special and might have already fulfilled his potential. Instead, the other target fits the profile of their recent acquisitions. There’s a solid chance they will let go of Filip Kostic next summer.
