Juventus Exodus Improbable Despite Likely Cup-less Year

Following the massive point deduction, Juventus face an uphill battle to qualify for a continental cup for 2023/2024. They either have to score a major judicial victory, but they’ll face further trials down the line, or win either Europa League or Coppa Italia. They have a double-digit deficit compared to the sixth-placed Lazio in the standings.

According to TuttoSport, there will be a few departures, mainly for age-related or economic reasons, but the backbone of the team will likely stay the same. Danilo has already re-upped his contract, Gleison Bremer joined last year and won’t move. Leonardo Bonucci will probably play his final campaign. Daniele Rugani and Mattia De Sciglio have another season on their contracts. Federico Gatti will eye a bigger role.

Most of the current Juventus midfielders, Manuel Locatelli, Nicolò Fagioli, and Fabio Miretti, are boyhood fans of the club, and that’s a factor. Paul Pogba inked a long-term contract, and his prolonged absence and the rumors shouldn’t affect his future.

The biggest question marks will be Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic. The former pushed to join when he could have gone abroad after his Fiorentina spell, and his departure wouldn’t necessarily be automatic. The Serb is in high demand and could ultimately be sacrificed if the team needs money. The same goes for Wojciech Szczesny, who has rich wages and a deal that runs out in 2024. Instead, Arkadiusz Milik is set to be bought out regardless.

Angel Di Maria and Adrien Rabiot are on expiring contracts. The Frenchman is likely to leave in any scenario, while El Fideo will decide based on different aspects. Instead, Juventus had already decided to move on from Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro before the legal troubles.
