Juventus Eye Atalanta Star as Barcelona Target Morata

With Barcelona again chasing after Alvaro Morata, Juventus are considering Luis Muriel to replace him. The Blaugrana have resumed pursuing the Spaniard after striking out in January. The Bianconeri have a €35M option to retain him but asked for a discount.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Catalans will soon meet with Atletico Madrid to discuss the future of Antoine Griezmann. The Colchoneros originally got him on a two-year loan. They want to buy him out permanently and could include the current Bianconeri forward in the package to do it early.

Morata had already agreed to join Barcelona in the previous window. However, Massimiliano Allegri convinced him to stay. The coach thought he would fit nicely next to Dusan Vlahovic, which has been the case. Juventus will hold the cards until the end of June when their clause will lapse. They might need the striker to take a stand to stay to keep him for a lower fee, €15-20M, as they wish.

If they were unsuccessful, the Old Lady could turn their attention to Muriel. He has similar traits since he can play on the left flank too. He has the same agent as Juan Cuadrado and is under contract with Atalanta until 2023, with a club option to extend it for another season. La Dea could go through an overhaul in the summer and make their squad younger. They could be willing to part ways with the Colombian international for €20M. The Bianconeri also have Sassuolo’s Giacomo Raspadori in their shortlist.
