Long in the sights of Serie A giants Juventus and Milan, Marseille young gun Boubakar Kamara is reportedly closer to another European heavyweight. According to Fichajes.net (via Calciomercatoweb.it), Barcelona are in pole position for the 21-year-old defensive midfielder, who is touted to be the successor of N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba in the center of France’s midfield.
The Marseille academy youth product has been the target of Juventus, more than Milan, for quite a while and the Bianconeri’s hopes of linking him up with Manuel Locatelli as a supporting regista look to be fading.
Kamara is one of French football’s highest rated talents, alongside the likes of Rayan Cherki and Aurelien Tchouameni, who have also been linked with Juventus.
His contract with the French club expires at the end of the current season, in June 2022, allowing him to sign a pre-contract agreement with the club of his choice – as his free agent status closes in.
The prospect of getting him for free will favour the financial conditions of both Barcelona and Juventus, who have been seriously affected by the pandemic’s loss. However, as of the moment it remains to be seen where the French U21 international will end up.
