Juventus Facing Major Obstacles in Chase for New Striker

Juventus might sign a new striker in January, provided they found one for cheap. It will likely be an outcast of a big team joining on loan. However, the rumored targets appear to be longshots because of their cost and other problems, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The Bianconeri have been linked primarily to Anthony Martial, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Mauro Icardi. The Frenchman is pushing to leave Manchester United. On the other hand, his performances took a nosedive this season, as he has hit the net just once. The Red Devils might let him go, but he makes €15M per year, which is too high for the Old Lady. Sevilla are currently the frontrunners to get him.

Mikel Arteta recently stripped Aubameyang of the captain’s armband and froze him out for disciplinary reasons. He could be on the move in January too. He has been more productive than Martial in 2021-2022. On the other hand, he also has very high wages. In addition, he will star in the upcoming African Cup of Nations with Gabon, so he will be unavailable for a while.

Icardi is reportedly the striker Juventus covet the most, given his previous success in Serie A. Mauricio Pochettino spoke about him yesterday: “He has not played how much he wished, but everybody is important for the balance of the squad. He is a goal poacher, and every team needs one.” It is uncertain whether PSG would allow him to leave. Moreover, the forward would probably prefer to have more long-term certainties if he departed.
