Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz could return to Serie A less than two years after leaving Napoli, with Juventus setting their sights on him. According to Tuttojuve, Massimiliano Allegri’s men aren’t the only side interested in the Spaniard, as Atletico Madrid and Barcelona reportedly keep close tabs on his situation in France.
Ruiz has failed to establish himself as a regular starter in Paris. Despite joining the club with high expectations following his stellar career at Napoli, the 27-year-old faces an uncertain future in Ligue 1. Juventus would be willing to offer him an escape route from the Parc des Princes in January to address a shortage of numbers in the midfield.
Soon after Paul Pogba failed a drug test, Juventus lost another first-team midfielder as Nicolo Fagioli agreed to plead guilty to illegal gambling charges, receiving a seven-month ban. Since the record-time Serie A champions could finally return to the Scudetto picture after a three-year spell outside the throne, Allegri is keen to add to his squad in January.
Juventus followed Ruiz during his time in Naples but couldn’t beat PSG to his signature in the summer of 2022. Unfortunately for the Spain international, his career in France has never taken off, which could play into Juve’s hands.
For the moment, Allegri must work with those at his disposal as Juventus welcome out-of-sorts Hellas Verona on Saturday, seeking another league victory after a 1-0 win at Milan last weekend.
