Juventus – Fiorentina Player Ratings: A Brilliant Ribery!

In their last match in the year 2020, Juventus hosted their bitter rivals Fiorentina at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. The visitors took an early lead through a Dušan Vlahović goal, before Juan Cuadrado made things even worse for the hosts with a silly red card, and La Viola added two late goals to seal a historic 3-0 victory. Here are our player ratings for the clash between Juventus and Fiorentina.

Juventus XI

Wojciech Szczęsny – 6

The former Arsenal goalkeeper kept his side in the match with some vital saves in the first half – including a brilliant one on Castrovilli’s shot – but eventually couldn’t save the champions from conceding an embarrassing defeat.

Juan Cuadrado – 3

Just when Juventus were beginning to dominate the match and build their siege towers around the Fiorentina area, the Colombian received a needless red card for his challenge on Castrovilli and thus ruined the match for his team.

Leonardo Bonucci – 4

A shocking performance from the captain who seemed all but fit to play a football match tonight. Was probably at fault in all three goals, and could have caused more with some awful passing at the back.

Matthijs De Ligt – 5.5

The young Dutchman couldn’t catch Vlahović on the first goal, and allowed the ball to pass through his legs for the third, but he still made some key interceptions at the back.

Alex Sandro – 5.5

The Brazilian was unlucky to score an own goal, but had a decent match overall, especially when supporting his Juventus teammates in the overlap deep into the Fiorentina areas.

Weston Mckennie – 5.5

The young American had to work even harder after Ramsey’s exit, but his technical touch left a lot to be desired.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6

Another midfielder who had to work extra. The Uruguayan wasn’t as effective as he was against Parma, but it’s hard to blame him based on the match’s circumstances.

Aaron Ramsey – N/A

Unfortunately for the Welshman, he was the sacrificial lamb who paid for Cuadrado’s dismissal, as Andrea Pirlo opted to take him off in favor of adding another defender.

Federico Chiesa – 6

The former Fiorentina man looked like a man who had something to prove and was arguably the player who tried mostly at Juventus. His former teammates had to repeatedly commit fouls in order to stop him, but unfortunately his final touch failed him at some key moments.

Alvaro Morata – 5

After a brilliant performance on Saturday, the Spaniard couldn’t come up with anything useful tonight. Taken off at the break after a forgettable first half.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 6.5

The Portuguese legend couldn’t socre tonight, but his pressing caused all kind of trouble for the Fiorentina defences, as he almost pulled Juventus back to the match when he pounced on a weak back-pass.

Juventus Substitutes

Danilo – 5.5

The Brazilian thought he’ll have the night off but was called into action after Cuadrado’s early dismissal, but couldn’t help the Bianconeri on the overlap at their time of need.

Federico Bernardeschi – 6

The former Fiorentina winger added a certain dynamic to Juventus after his introduction, and probably should have won his side a penalty kick after Drągowski’s challenge on him.

Dejan Kulusevski – 5

The young Swede didn’t add anything notable for his side following his introduction.

Gianluca Frabotta – N/A

Fiorentina XI

Bartłomiej Drągowski – 6.5

The other Polish goalkeeper came up with several key saves to deny the hosts, but almost gifted Bernardeschi a goal after fumbling a routine catch.

Nikola Milenković – 6.5

A solid performance from the Serbian defender who didn’t embarrass himself in his duels against Ronaldo, however, his badly-played back pass almost gifted the Portuguese striker an easy equalizer.

Germán Pezzella – 7

The Fiorentina captain marshalled the defensive line with class and confidence, and never allowed a Juventus play to pass through him.

Igor Julio – 6.5

The young Brazilian was a bit rash at times, but he did a great job to keep Morata at bay during the first half.

Martín Cáceres – 7.5

The veteran defender played a vital role in the win against his old club. Helped his teammates in containing Ronaldo’s danger, and was rewarded for his constant overlapping with a goal to his name.

Sofyan Amrabat – 7

The Morocco international looked much better in his more advanced role. Linked up well with Valero in the middle and caused the Bianconeri trouble with his pressing game.

Borja Valero – 6.5

The Spanish veteran was lucky not to concede a red card, but he adapted well in the Regista role as his smart passes helped his team in maintaining possession.

Gaetano Castrovilli – 7

A strong performance from the Italy international. Fought hard in his duels against the likes of Cuadrado and Chiesa, and his run through the middle instigated the third goal.

Cristiano Biraghi – 7

The left-back had some trouble in containing Chiesa at the start of the match, but eventually had the last laugh with two late assists from the flank.

Franck Ribery – 8

A stellar performance by the former Bayern Munich man. He initiated almost every Fiorentina play, and created the first goal with a brilliant assist, before helping in setting up the second.

Dušan Vlahović – 7.5

The Serbian demonstrated his pace, strength and finishing touch when opening the scoring in the first three minutes. The sky is the limit for the young bomber.

Fiorentina Substitutes

Erick Pulgar – 6

Had a great opportunity to score from the edge of the area but his shot went a little wide.

Christian Kouamé – N/A

Giacomo Bonaventura – N/A

Lorenzo Venuti – N/A
