Juventus Frontman Thrilled with Derby Performance

Arkadiusz Milik returned to the scoresheet as Juventus maintained their dominance over cross-town rivals Torino with a 2-0 win in Saturday’s Derby della Mole. There was nothing to separate the sides at halftime, but set-pieces made the difference in the second half, firing Massimiliano Allegri’s side to a morale-bolstering victory before the international break.

Only two minutes after the break, Federico Gatti redeemed himself for a ridiculous own goal against Sassuolo by firing Juventus in front. Milik doubled the home side’s lead at the Allianz Stadium with a towering header after Filip Kostic’s corner-kick delivery, putting the game beyond Torino’s reach.

Juventus could’ve scored more after the second but failed to convert their chances. Nonetheless, Allegri can be more than happy with the result, considering his standout forwards, Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa, were unavailable for selection. Milik stepped up in their absence, coming off the bench to his second Serie A goal of the season.

With Vlahovic and Chiesa taking center stage this season, Milik has had to lurk in the shadows and wait for his chances. One such presented itself today, and he seized it with open arms. Speaking to the press in the aftermath, the Juventus striker highlighted the significance of finding the net.

Today was difficult because I lost some training, but the goal gave me a lot of confidence. For us strikers, it is important to score,” Milik told DAZN, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb.

He also praised his Juventus teammate Gleison Bremer, who delivered a sterling performance against his former side.

Bremer played a game on a very high level. I know what this match means to him. He deserves the award of best on the pitch.
