Juventus Fullback Set to Move to Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt didn’t have to look far to find a replacement for Filip Kostic, as it will come directly from Juventus: Luca Pellegrini will take the medicals later today. He will join on a straight loan, and the clubs and his camp are ironing out the final details, Goal’s Romeo Agresti reports.

The former Roma youth product registered 21 appearances across all competitions in his first season in Turin since being acquired back in 2019 in a swap with Leonardo Spinazzola. West Ham and Fulham previously pursued him for a potential permanent transfer.

As per TuttoSport, Juventus currently don’t plan to add a left-back despite Pellegrini moving to Eintracht Frankfurt. Mattia De Sciglio will back up Alex Sandro on such flank, while Danilo and Juan Cuadrado will alternate on the right one. Kostic can fill in a pinch as well, or take care of the whole wing in a 3-5-2 scheme.

The Bianconeri tried to offload the Brazilian veteran instead, but his €6M wages scared away the suitors. He is reluctant to depart with the World Cup just around the corner. He will most likely leave at the end of his contract in 2023. If the club changed its mind, Emerson Palmieri would be the top target.

Our Take on Pellegrini Joining Eintracht Frankfurt

It’s a pretty neat landing spot for the wingback, who should have a large role and will play in the Champions League. However, this choice probably solidifies the fact that he’s not part of the future plans. De Sciglio has always been better on the left, but not signing anybody would be a gamble. And loaning out Andrea Cambiaso becomes a puzzling move at this point.
