Juventus Get Good News on Injury Front But Will Still Be Depleted

Giorgio Chiellini subbed off in the first half of the Porto game due to some discomfort in his calf, but today’s tests revealed no significant injuries and he is expected to be sidelined for just couple of weeks, Sky Italy reported. Leonardo Bonucci made just a token appearance on the bench Wednesday as he was unavailable because of a thigh problem and he has a similar timetable. Both Juventus defenders are targeting March 6th’s clash with Lazio for their returns and could therefore miss the next three contests versus Crotone, Verona and Spezia.

Chiellini was not the only one to visit the J-Clinic in the aftermath of the loss, as also Alvaro Morata and Rodrigo Bentancur took some exams as well, which came back negative and are likely to be available for Monday’s match versus Crotone. Coach Andrea Pirlo said that the Spanish striker fainted in the locker room after the game as he is still feeling the effects of the flu that limited him throughout the week. Matthijs De Ligt, who was seen laboring near the end of the game, simply cramped up. Danilo will be forced to sit out the return leg as he picked up his third yellow card of the competition.

Gianluigi Buffon was at risk of being suspended for blasphemy after being caught swearing on camera in December 19th’s fixture versus Parma and subsequently referred, but he got away with a €5k fine. The Juventus legend recently escaped punishment for a similar incident in Coppa Italia versus Inter as the audio was not clear enough.
