Moise Kean is under fire for the red card he received after just 40 minutes after subbing in against Roma, which led to a two-game suspension. The striker apologized to the team and will be fined. The matter is unlikely to affect his future in a meaningful way, though.
Per TuttoSport, the marksman joined on a two-year loan from Everton in 2021. The clause to make the transfer permanent has already been picked up. The Bianconeri will pay €28M, plus €7M add-ons, to Everton in a few installments. The Toffees had previously spent €27.5M to acquire him from the Old Lady in 2019.
Despite the recent incident, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri remains a big supporter of Kean. He’s having his most prolific campaign in Turin, having netted 7 goals in 32 appearances. The opinions within the club aren’t unanimous on him, but moving on without taking a financial beating is challenging.
The Bianconeri are unlikely to file an appeal to have his sanction reduced. He’ll miss the match against Inter too. Even though the boss ruled out Arkadiuz Milik until the international break, the Pole hopes to return versus the Nerazzurri.
Our Take on Kean and Juventus
It will go down as an expensive error that comes from afar. The last two Bianconeri directors, Fabio Paratici and Federico Cherubini diverged about his move to Everton. The latter wanted to rectify what he considered an error once he took over since the youngster fared well on loan at PSG. They’ll have to wait for a couple of years for his value to decrease enough to make his departure digestible for their balance sheets. Still, there are worse things than having a home-grown player as a backup striker.
