Juventus Have Not Decided on Andrea Pirlo, Wait for Real Madrid Call

Andrea Pirlo met with the Juventus management yesterday, but the talks were inconclusive, and he was not confirmed on the bench for next season. The club is biding time before making the call on the rookie gaffer, whose chances to stay are not great, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The Bianconeri are waiting to see what will happen at Real Madrid. They would make an offer for Zinedine Zidane if he left, as likely. On the other hand, if he changed his mind, they would go after Massimiliano Allegri, who would miss out on the opportunity to manage the Merengues at that point.

Juventus will avoid making rash decisions. The Exor holding will have a shareholders’ assembly Thursday, and the club will be among the topics. It could lead to changes among the executives, who are all on expiring contracts. Sporting director Fabio Paratici might be on his way out, and Federico Cherubini could instead be elevated to the leading position in the technical area.

The wait on the next coach also stems from the uncertainty in the front office. Andrea Agnelli has recently reached out to Allegri again, sketching out possible plans together, but the coach is on stand-by. PSG could alter the whole picture if they decided to sack Mauricio Pochettino, as they would be strong contenders for Allegri and Zidane.

Among the alternative plans, the Old Lady is keener on Gian Piero Gasperini than Simone Inzaghi, Gennaro Gattuso and Sinisa Mihajlovic, who are easier to get. Pirlo is a fallback option if they do not land one of their top choices, La Repubblica reports.
