Juventus are not chasing after only Manuel Locatelli to strengthen their squad. They recently had a meeting with Sampdoria to discuss Mikkel Damsgaard. The price tag of the Danish starlet skyrocketed during the Euro. The Bianconeri are trying to include Federico Bernardeschi in the deal, Rai journalist Paolo Paganini reported.
The Blucerchiati would rather monetize fully the departure of the 21-year-old old and want €35M, the transfer market expert added. Juventus would have to contribute to Bernardeschi’s salary, which is too expensive for the Genoa-based team. The former Fiorentina winger has only a year left on his deal with the Old Lady. He would need to extend it to stay.
Damsgaard displayed flashes of talent in the past season, tallying 2 goals and 4 assists in 37 appearances. He confirmed it in the Euro, where he hit the net twice. He was the first one to score to England. Juventus started tracking when Fabio Paratici was still at the helm.
Sampdoria’s president previously stated that he would like to keep him to cash in even more next year. His coach Roberto D’Aversa commented: “Staying in Serie A would allow him to grow even more. The transfer market strategies are above my pay grade, but the chairman was clear, and he will not move for cheap.”
Damsgaard would more likely transfer abroad if he departed this summer given his rich price tag. Liverpool, Everton, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, on top of Juventus and Milan, have manifested interest in signing him, Repubblica reports. The talks have been only preliminary with every side.
